Metaphor mash-ups

Of course, there's nothing suprising about that. I'm pretty sure I've read at least one of these every year for the last decade, so my attitude is "Meh. Wake me up when the bulldozers start rolling." What makes this particular article stand out is a metaphor as vivid as it is mixed: apparently, any attempt to add security features to our current incarnation of the internet 'amounts at most to bandages in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.' Phrases such as this give me an inordinate amount of pleasure, so I'm sharing it on the off-chance that the same is true of you...
