Uncanny

On Saturday afternoon tinyjo was in the kitchen, I was in the lounge, and the radio was on (as ever), broadcasting the news. The reporter was talking about the French leadership vote, and the announcer said "It could not have been closer", then went on to describe the machinations that preceded the vote. Thirty seconds later he revealed that Martine Aubry had won by 42 votes, at which point Jo and I said "So it could have been closer" in perfect unison. We had both been lying in wait like pedantic tigers, crouched near the waterhole of that superlative statement ready to pounce on the fact gazelle. I think we might be quite a good match...
