A weight off my face

Well, the votes are in, and the fate of my facial fuzz is fixed. To my surprise the actual voting was almost 2:1 in favour of my keeping it. However, after applying sophisticated data-processing techniques to adjust for other significant factors ([livejournal.com profile] tinyjo voted against, keeping a neatly trimmed beard seems more effort than just shaving, more than one comment drawing comparisons with Shaggy), I came to the inescapable conclusion that it had to go.

Photographic evidence

Nervously contemplating my fate.

After initial trim with kitchen scissors.

Nice and smooth.

I'll miss it, a little, but I feel that I have proved my manliness (once again) and - who knows - maybe someday it will return; perhaps if being a beatnik comes back into fashion, or when my mid-life crisis kicks in...

...and within the space of three photos you've gone from Torchword baddy to The Doctor's new assistant. *grins*

I surprised myself by voting in favour of your beard. I generally can't stand the things, and if there was any chance one was going to get very close to me I'd definitely endeavour to veto it. But yours was much more amusing than most.

How is it that your eyes have got narrower again now that the beard is off. I'm sorry, but that's just plain weird.

Perhaps seeing the world through a new face gave my expression a child-like, wide-eyed innocence, which I've now sliced off and washed down the plug-hole... Or maybe it was just the weight of it pulling my cheeks down.

Friends reunited

i don't remember why.

Me neither. If you like, you could log in as [livejournal.com profile] jisms and make a rude comment on one of my posts, then we could totally have a really passive-aggressive, bitchy flame war, thus providing a retrospective explanation.

Also, thanks.

Or we could just be friends again? Sunshine and puppies and hearts?

Unless you want to argue about marmalade, I already did that once today.

I'm not sure I really feel strongly enough about marmalade to argue either way, so I guess I have no option...

beardliness

I can - months later - see that in many-years-from-now if you had a full beard rather than a horrible chinliness of scrag you could look benevolent in a lionesque, Bill Bryson sort of way. Many years from now.

So maybe just letting the benevolence come through without the beard anyway would be the biz?
